On May 23, 2025, Cooper University Health Care disclosed that it had experienced a data breach potentially affecting 57,412 individuals. The potentially compromised information, depending on the individual, may include names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, health insurance details, treatment information, medical record number, and medical history information. Unusual network activity was initially detected in May 2024 and led to an investigation, which concluded March 26, 2025. Cooper is not aware of any affected individual’s information being used inappropriately but has set up credit monitoring and has reported the matter to the FBI. Two patients who were potentially affected have filed class action lawsuits against Cooper University Health Care in connection with this breach.
