On March 6, 2025, Curis Healthcare, Inc. (Curis), a Chicago-based healthcare marketing company, and Saeed Medical Group Ltd. (Saeed Medical), a Chicago-based healthcare clinic doing business as Alliance Immediate and Primary Care, agreed to pay $1,913,808 to settle anti-kickback allegations. The settlement alleges False Claims Act violations via Curis’s involvement in laboratory kickback schemes involving fraudulent Medicare and TRICARE claims from April 1, 2020, to August 31, 2021. The settlement alleges Curis, as independent contractor marketers for Labtech Diagnostics LLC, knowingly and willfully solicited and/or received thousands of dollars in remuneration in the form of commissions based on the volume of orders for laboratory services and arranged and/or recommended referrals to Labtech in violation of the Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS). The settlement also alleges that Curis knowingly and willfully offered and/or paid to Saeed Medical, and Saeed Medical knowingly and willfully solicited and/or received from Curis, thousands of dollars in remuneration in the form of cash payments in return for Saeed Medical’s referrals to Labtech for laboratory services in violation of the AKS. Curis and Saeed expressly did not admit liability in the agreement.
