Congress will return to Capitol Hill for a lame duck session on November 12, 2024, one week after the national election. The current continuing resolution funding the federal government expires on December 20, 2024.

The Social Security Administration is expected to announce its new Social Security cost of living adjustment on October 10 according to CBS News. “The 2025 cost-of-living adjustment is forecast to come in at about 2.5%, according to the Senior Citizens League, an advocacy group for older Americans.”
