DaVita to Pay Over $34M to Resolve Allegations of Illegal Kickbacks

On July 18, 2024, the Department of Justice announced that DaVita Inc. agreed to pay $34,487,390 to resolve False Claims Act allegations concerning alleged kickbacks to induce referrals to DaVita’s dialysis centers and to DaVita Rx, a former pharmacy services subsidiary. 

The settlement also resolved claims brought under the  False Claims Act’s whistleblower provisions. According to the Justice Department, the whistleblower will receive $6,370,000 from the settlement proceeds.
