Following the cyber-attack on Change Health, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) established the Accelerated and Advance Payment Program for the Change Healthcare/Optum Payment Disruption (CHOPD) to assist providers with payments during the system's downtime. On June 17, 2024, however, CMS announced that this program will end this coming July 12. The program enabled accelerated payments of more than $2.55 billion to over 4,200 Part A providers . CMS reports that payments are now processing normally, and they have already recouped over 96 percent of the CHOPD payments.
