Justice Department Launches Task Force to Combat Health Care Monopolies and Collusion

In a May 9, 2024 press release, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the establishment of a Task Force on Health Care Monopolies and Collusion (“HCMC”) to address competition issues in health care markets. The HCMC aims to engage in policy advocacy, investigations, and enforcement actions to combat anticompetitive practices that inflate costs and lower quality of care. Katrina Rouse, an experienced antitrust prosecutor, will lead the task force.
