On September 27, 2017, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released its Draft Strategic Plan for 2018–2022. The Plan sets forth five strategic goals, including enhancing the healthcare system, improving the health and well-being of Americans, encouraging advances in science, and promoting the efficient management of HHS. The Plan seeks to meet the goal of enhancing the healthcare system by, among other things, leveraging technology and public healthcare data to support safe, high quality care. Specifically, HHS focuses on advancing functional health information technology tools to assist patients, safety net providers, and community based organizations in their decision making, as well as support healthcare providers in their workflow. Comments may be provided for each goal and objective and comments must be submitted no later than October 27, 2017.
