HLS Cancer Legal Advocacy Partnership with the Cancer Legal Resource Center (CLRC)

The ABA’s Cancer Legal Advocacy Interest Group (then the Breast Cancer Initiatives) was first introduced in 1993 by the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession to provide information and education on a wide range of legal issues related to women's health, and to provided resources to lawyers and consumers facing breast cancer. In 2008, the ABA Health Law Section assumed responsibility for the Breast Cancer project. Shortly thereafter, we partnered with the Cancer Legal Resource Center (CLRC) to further our shared breast cancer legal advocacy goals. In 2019, the Interest Group changed its name to the Cancer Legal Advocacy Interest Group and continues to work in collaboration with the Cancer Legal Resource Center to train attorneys and promote their pro bono or low cost legal services on a wide range of issues facing cancer patients and those diagnosed with other and life-threatening diseases.
