Impact of State Privacy Laws on Healthcare Data Privacy

The state data privacy landscape is changing rapidly as more and more states pass comprehensive consumer data privacy laws and laws tailored to consumer health data. With several states already enforcing such laws, others in the process of implementing them, and many more considering similar legislation, healthcare organizations must determine the extent to which these laws will affect their business activities and data collection practices.
Our panel will guide healthcare entities—regardless of whether they are regulated under HIPAA—through the increasingly complex state data privacy environment. We will provide an overview of these laws, their key similarities and differences, and relevant exemptions.
