New legislation in Florida such as the Stop the Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees ("Stop W.O.K.E.") Act and Parental Rights in Education ("Don't Say Gay") Act have sparked a firestorm of similar legislation across the country leaving behind ashes of discrimination, banned books, and silenced educators. This program will provide a summary of the laws; explore the implications on free speech and education; and outline stakeholder strategies to address the impact, including litigation challenging the laws. Panelists will also discuss the importance of embracing history and culture as these impacts are evaluated and addressed.
