Notice of Bylaws Revisions
The ABA Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division hereby provides notice of its intent to change its bylaws, which will be considered and, hopefully, approved by its membership at the Annual Meeting of the Division Membership (see above). In addition, the ABA Board of Governors will also consider and, hopefully, approve the changes. The Division’s Council approved the proposed bylaws changes at its Spring Meeting on May 4, 2019.
The changes include allowing the Budget Officer to be a voting member; outlining the term of the Budget Officer, which will be three Association years, beginning with the adjournment of the Annual Meeting one year after the Budget Officer is elected (at the adjournment of the Annual Meeting in which the Budget Officer is elected, he/she shall serve as Budget Officer-Elect unless such person has previously served as Budget Officer, in which case his/her term shall commence immediately after the adjournment of the Annual Meeting in which he/she is elected); and allowing the Secretary in his/her sole discretion to excuse a Council Member-at-Large’s absence from a meeting of Council upon written prior request and for good cause. Please e-mail email@example.com with any questions or concerns regarding these changes.
