TAPAs: Technology And Practice Advice

Jeffrey Allen and Ashley Hallene

This month’s tips relate to achieving greater practice efficiency by moving toward a paperLESS practice. Note that we do not advocate having a zero paper practice. We may get there someday, but today is not that day. You can, however, work more efficiently and reduce your operating costs by adjusting your work to reduce the physical paper you and your staff must handle. Reducing the paper reduces clutter, filing time, and the amount of space you need for your office (thereby cutting rent too). If you cannot find a document easily, the computer will search for it faster than you and your assistant together in most cases.
