The local food movement has been around for decades. But recently, new emphasis has grown on local food, which has increased the interest in urban agriculture, especially as individuals have looked to redevelop vacant urban areas. The growth of urban farming has generated sources of neighborhood renewal and economic development. However, as this interest has grown, traditional conflicts between rural and urban living have resurfaced.
