As Immediate Past President of Group Legal Services Association (GLSA) and the General Counsel of ARAG, a legal services administrator, I have had the great pleasure of meeting and talking with many attorneys in solo and small law practices. The recent economic challenges in the United States have been felt by many industries, and I have been particularly attuned to the impact on solo and small firm law practitioners. They seem to be particularly vulnerable to the ebb and flow of the economic conditions and the client’s ability to be able to afford legal assistance. In recent times we have experienced a diversified method of generating revenue that may bring stability and even unexpected prosperity in an economic downturn.
