- Attend a free CLE session on immigration law and learn how to make a difference for children who need help.
The Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division partners with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) to train lawyers to represent unaccompanied children in immigration proceedings. A two-hour nuts & bolts training session on immigration practice will take place during this Fall’s National Solo & Small Firm Conference, on Friday October 4, 2013. Attendees will be given the option (but are not required) to sign up for pro bono cases at the conclusion of their training, with KIND providing case assignments and mentors. The fact is that 24,000 children, as young as nine months old, are unaccompanied and not entitled to legal representation. Through our partnership with KIND, ABA members will help make the immigration courts more efficient while helping young newcomers. If you are unable to attend the training or would like to learn more about the project, we have posted a short informational video, a TWO-HOUR FREE CLE accredited webinar, and six half-hour podcasts on specific hearings on our site.
