As solos, we often approach our practice as part of a routine—we answer calls, file cases for clients, and network to gain more business. We often do not take the time necessary to do an inventory of our practices to assess whether what we’re doing is helping us gain the clients we want or have the lifestyle we desire. Over the last few years, I’ve used certain routines, or what I call my “exercises,” to be more intentional in evaluating whether my time and activities are advancing the goals I’ve set for myself and my business. These exercises are useful whenever you need them to help you and your business stay on track.
