This year marks the 100th anniversary of the guarantee of American women’s right to vote, but it would be wrong to think of women’s political participation in this country as limited to the last century. Since the country’s conception, women have influenced the distribution of power in the United States. In culture, law, and business, women have been political since the birth of the nation.
