When I sat down to write this column, my first since becoming Chair of the Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Division, I wasn’t sure what I would write about. The theme of this issue is “Advising Small Businesses,” not a subject within my practice area. I thought, how can I talk about representing a small business when I have no experience in this type of practice? But after giving it some thought, I realized that my firm is a small business, too, and I can use this opportunity to discuss the professional relationship between the attorney and client, which fits within the theme of this year: Building All Relationships.
