Transgender Rights: A Time of Transition

More than at any other time in our nation’s history, transgender people are being embraced and supported and have a chance to contribute to and openly participate in our society. In the past decade, transgender people have gained much needed legal protections in employment, schools, health care, family law, housing, identity documents, the military, asylum, and other areas. Increasingly, courts, legislatures, families, employers, school officials, and others recognize that transgender people are part of our communities and families.
