The older population in the United States is expected to increase dramatically in the years ahead as members of the Baby Boom generation reach age 65. By 2030, there will be about 72.1 million senior citizens, comprising about 20 percent of the country’s total population. Given this projection, the United States should prepare itself for the many changes that will accompany the rise in population of older Americans.
