Kids In Need of Defense (KIND) Training

GPSolo has partnered with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) to enable volunteer attorneys to assist unaccompanied children - ranging from as young as three years old to eighteen years old - who otherwise may be forced to represent themselves in immigration court proceedings. If you are willing to provide pro bono services for a vulnerable child to ensure that the child does not face removal proceedings alone or thinking about expanding your practice into the area of immigration, they have resources for you.

Law Student Mentoring Program

Our student mentoring program aims to fill some of the gaps of traditional law school education by introducing law students to the practical aspects of being a lawyer through real world activities and a mentor’s insight and guidance. The program is flexible, enabling students to pick their mentor and tailor the program’s criteria to his or her interests. Members interested in serving as mentors are encouraged to complete our mentor interest form.

Pro Bono Matters for Children Facing Deportation

The ABA Children’s Immigration Law Academy (CILA) hosts a platform called Pro Bono Matters for Children Facing Deportation that features pro bono opportunities in children’s and families’ immigration law cases across the nation. We welcome individuals to go to the webpage, look at the case cards on the platform, and express interest in a pro bono opportunity if they want to get involved. The posting organization will then reach out to the potential pro bono attorney, provide more case details, and help them get started if it’s a good fit. Sign up to receive CILA's quarterly pro bono newsletter to stay up to date on upcoming trainings and new resources to support pro bono attorneys.

ABA Military Pro Bono Project

The ABA Military Pro Bono Project accepts case referrals from military legal assistance attorneys anywhere in the world on behalf of junior-enlisted servicemembers with civil legal issues requiring services beyond what military attorneys can provide. The Project then places these cases with attorneys who offer to provide pro bono help where the legal assistance is needed in the United States.

Operation Stand-By

The ABA Military Pro Bono Project also includes Operation Stand-By, through which civilian attorneys may volunteer to offer attorney-to-attorney guidance to military attorneys in need of consultation on substantive or jurisdiction-specific information, so the military attorneys can better assist their servicemember clients.
