Janet Coulter was a leader of the ABA’s Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division for many years. From 2017-2018, she was the Division’s Chair. GPSLD’s mission is to serve the nation’s public lawyers by providing publications, programming, and services designed for their unique needs; advocating for policies that benefit public lawyers; promoting professionalism; and recognizing excellence within the public sector. Janet devoted much effort and many hours to advancing that mission.
While Janet was a hard worker, she was also a loving friend. Her GPSLD colleagues will miss her warmth, her humor, and her charm. She was always ready to do something fun and was also always there for those who were experiencing challenges.
Here are just a few comments from GPSLD Council Members:
Judge Ira Sandron: I had the privilege of knowing Janet for many years, first in the National Conference of the Administrative Law Judiciary and then in GPSLD. She will be sorely missed, but we will remember her vivaciousness, enthusiasm, and many contributions to our division and the profession. RIP Janet.
Sharon Pandak: Janet was such a trooper through her illness and devoted to GPSLD. She was a friend.
Janet was one of the first people who encouraged me to get more involved with ABA/GPSLD. She was wonderful.
