GPSLD's New Chair has a Message for you

Greetings and welcome to the new bar year. I recently took the helm as chair, and I'm excited to serve  the members of GPSLD!

I am a Workers' Compensation Judge at the Long Beach District Office of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. In addition to my "day job," I have been very involved in educational initiatives for judges and lawyers. In the past, I served as judicial training officer and chair of the Educational Committee for the State of California, Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers' Compensation, responsible for overseeing the training of workers' compensation judges and other worker compensation professionals. I also lecture on a variety of topics including settlement negotiations, trial techniques, legislative changes, case law updates, new rule changes and hearing representative training. In addition, I served on the faculty of the National Judicial College.

My interest in legal education is one reason I became involved with GPSLD. The Division offers a vast array of practical, interesting and dare I say enjoyable CLE programs designed specifically for government and public sector lawyers. My GPSLD membership has enhanced my skills and has been an important part of my professional life. It is fulfilling and worthwhile and I'm sure you will find that for you as well.

To become more involved in the Division, please browse our webpage (www.governmentlawyer.org) for information about serving on a committee, writing an article, or proposing a project. We warmly welcome your involvement in our dynamic group.

Should you have questions or comments please contact us at [email protected]. I welcome your suggestions.
