This lunch and learn program will address the often less-discussed issues that arise in divorce cases that can add an additional dimension of difficulty in obtaining a resolution for the family law practitioner. Our speakers will address scenarios that arise with sentimental assets like wedding rings and pets, the valuation and insuring of unique and costly property items, and best practices when allocating wedding gifts from family and friends. We will look at cases and state laws that address the determination of whether a particular item is a marital gift or an investment asset of the marriage, and we discuss practice tips on how to navigate the situation where marital property goes missing during the dissolution process and when to involve the insurance company.
