Confronting the Challenge of the High-Conflict Personality in Family Court

Most family law cases resolve relatively swiftly, but “a profoundly dysfunctional subset of cases” do not. Rather, these are fueled by “high-conflict personalities” and a system that seems to facilitate conflict. The authors designed a qualitative survey to better understand the phenomenon, and they propose a range of pragmatic, systemic reforms.
