From the Chair

Jonathan W. Wolfe

This year was not the year that we expected, but I am proud of all that we have accomplished together. Thank you to our members, staff, sponsors, and fellow leaders of the Section. We continue to thrive because of your commitment, involvement, and dedication to the advancement of family law.

I first served on the Section’s counsel as a law student in 1999. Over the past 20 years, the Section has given more to me than I could ever possibly repay. I have built lifelong friends, learned from some of the smartest people and best lawyers across the country, and advanced my practice beyond what I had imagined was possible. I believe there is no family law organization—local or national—that can provide its members the breadth and depth of the benefits that we are able to provide our members. That said, we know we can do more and look forward to continuing to expand our offerings and to evolving in the face of new challenges. While I missed seeing friends and colleagues in San Diego, I am thrilled at the success of our virtual meetings. An unprecedented number of you participated and were able to witness remotely the programing that previously was only available to in-person attendees. While we will be together again in the future, we will also continue to enhance and expand our virtual offerings.

Mike Mosberg will become your Chair in August. You could not be in better hands. Mike is one of the best lawyers I know and the person that I have relied on most this year as we tackled unprecedented times. Thank you, Mike, for your wisdom, judgment, hard work, and sense of humor. Thank you to the Section staff, Cindy Swan, Danielle Pruger, and Casey Purcell. You are the unsung heroes of our Section.

Thanks to Saul Wolfe and Gary Skoloff for having the courage to start a two-person firm 60+ years ago and then entrusting me and David Wolfe with its care. Thanks to David Wolfe for being a remarkable partner in law and life. And, of course, thank you to my wife Renee and our children Ayla, Kai, and Mikah. Having your support (and company at countless meetings) has made all the difference.

I look forward to the time we can all be together again. Until then, see you soon!
