Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award Committee Description

Prior to the Section's Annual Meeting, the Section of Family Law Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award Committee selects an attorney to receive the Jean Crowe ABA Section of Family Law Pro Bono Award.

The Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award Committee is a Standing Committee. Standing committees are established and authorized by Council or by the Chair with the advice and consent of Council and are responsible to Council.

The Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award Committee Chair is appointed by the Chair Elect, upon consultation with the Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary of the section, to serve during the upcoming year. The appointment is to be made by June 1st

The committee chair has the following responsibilities which can be accomplished by working with a Vice-Chair or Co-Chair:

  1. Solicit and review nominations.
  2. Identify an award recipient who has made a difference by offering services on a pro bono basis, or promotes organization(s) that provide legal services to low income and/or underrepresented populations.
  3. Present the award during the Section’s Annual Awards Luncheon at the Annual Meeting.
  4. Be prepared to give an oral report at council upon request.
