This award honors the legacy of Allen Gary Palmer, former Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association Family Law Section and Partner at Halloran & Sage, LLP. Palmer was active in ABA Section of Family Law activities, serving on the Section’s Council and as a leader of the Diversity Committee through his long battle with Parkinson’s disease, which he ultimately lost in 2018 at the age of 54. Palmer turned a bleak medical diagnosis into an opportunity to teach others about an often-overlooked population: those living with disabilities. The Section of Family Law recognizes his commitment to the Section, and particularly the Diversity Committee, through this award.
The purpose of this award is to honor either:
- A second year Family Law Section Fellow who has consistently complied with and exceeded Fellowship guidelines and expectations throughout the entirety of his or her Fellowship, or
- A former Fellow who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the Section by his or her continued participation in the Section’s committees and leadership.
The award will consist of a plaque, free registration to one of the two upcoming Section conferences, and complimentary ticket for that conference’s Friday night event.
