The Family Law Section sponsors a collection of awards, initiatives, and fellowships designed to honor family law professionals and promote the Section’s mission to further the development and improvement of business law.

Recognition of the achievements of our members and programs to support the Section’s key initiatives.
Fellowship Program
The Section of Family Law Fellowship Program is open to family attorneys who demonstrate financial need and (1) meet diversity criteria, or (2) work in legal services or non-profit legal organizations whose work centers around providing free or low-cost family legal services to individuals in traditionally underserved diverse communities.
Charitable Fund
Donations to our Charitable Fund enable our Section to enhance diversity and inclusion in the profession. The Fund is also intended to promote access to justice, support our public service projects and education and recognize outstanding family lawyers helping people when they need help the most.
Service Projects
During our CLE conferences, we offer service projects that give back to the community.
Howard C. Schwab Essay Contest
The Section of Family Law holds the Howard C. Schwab Memorial Essay Contest annually to stimulate curiosity and investigation into the field of family law. All law students are encouraged to enter.
Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award
Each year the Section of Family Law selects recipient of the Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award who has made a difference by offering services on a pro bono basis, or promotes organization(s) that provide legal services to low income and/or underrepresented populations.
Allen Gary Palmer Excellence in Service and Commitment Award
This annual award, open to qualified graduating or former Section Fellows, honors the legacy of former FLS Council member Allen Gary Palmer.
Chair's Cup Award
Each year, the Chair of the Family Law Section awards a fellow member of the Section with the Chair's Cup in recognition of their contributions to the Section.
