The Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan: Collaborative planning at work in the California desert

The California desert stretches 350 miles from the Owens Valley to the City of El Centro, encompassing one of the largest intact desert landscapes remaining in the United States, as well as significant renewable energy resources. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages nearly half of the 22 million acres of these California desert lands, long cherished for the recreational opportunities, wildlife habitat, and watershed protection they provide to local communities and visitors alike.
