The Association of American Pest Control Officials (AAPCO) has established a work group on minimum risk pesticides, also known as Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) section 25(b) products. Minimum risk pesticides are exempted from FIFRA registration under 40 C.F.R. § 152.25(f). Approximately 80 percent of the states, however, require some form of registration for these pesticides under state law. The AAPCO work group’s goal is to facilitate sharing of information between states and industry to provide guidance to reduce duplication of efforts in the review and registration of minimum risk pesticides by the states.
