Pandemic or Not, PFAS Review Progresses

Election years often present challenges at all levels of government for the advancement of legislation or administrative rules, particularly when government may be divided. The year 2020 is really no different—that is, of course, except for this regrettable once-a-century pandemic. Of necessity, the attention of elected and appointed officials has been diverted away from more traditional business and toward addressing COVID-19 challenges. Notwithstanding this diversion, one area in the environmental arena that not only remains front and center, but also continues to gain attention across the nation at every governmental level, is “PFAS,” or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, sometimes identified as “forever chemicals.”
