Last October, the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources (SEER) held its annual fall meeting in San Diego. As with every such annual meeting, the editorial board for NR&E gathered to chart the content for the next publication cycle (which begins with the magazine you hold). Composed of subject matter professionals from a host of legal disciplines, the board collectively maintains a strong finger on the issues of the day and a ready sense of the themes that will best resonate with SEER members and others who read our articles. The San Diego meeting was no exception, save that for the first time in (at least) the decade I have been a member, location influenced our identification of issues topics. We were experiencing the California effect.
