Perhaps in response to a growing global awareness of the need for heightened and improved management of all aspects of chemicals—production, processing, distribution, use, and disposal, based in part on heightened awareness of chemical hazards—governments around the world have been enhancing their domestic chemical management programs and ratcheting up the level of regulatory control over chemicals and, in some instances, manufactured articles containing chemicals believed to be “of concern.”
