Incorporating Small-Scale Hydropower Projects into Our Energy Future

Courtney Krause, Edalin Kosiol, and Matthew Merrill

Hydropower is the largest source of renewable energy in the United States. Yet current domestic capacity represents only a fraction of the hydropower resources that could be developed. In fact, a recent Department of Energy study found that there may be enough untapped potential to double hydropower production across the country, and particularly in western states.
