Report Documents Unprecedented Decline in Global Biodiversity

Providing an ominous assessment on the health and future of ecosystems worldwide, the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) announced the findings from its Global Assessment Report.

The report marks the result of 3 years effort by 145 expert authors from 50 countries with inputs from another 310 contributing authors. It is the first intergovernmental report of its kind with findings based on reviews of some 15,000 scientific and government sources and includes insights from indigenous and local communities.
