FWS and NMFS Propose Significant Endangered Species Regulatory Overhaul

This past summer, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS, and collectively with FWS, the Services) proposed several changes to the regulations implementing the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the comment period for which closed on September 24, 2018.[1] In a few key areas—including species delisting, Section 4(d) special rules, and the consultation provisions—the Services are proposing watershed changes to these regulations.
