    Leadership Development Program

    The Leadership Development Program (LDP) supports ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources (SEER) members who are interested in expanding a current SEER leadership role or growing their knowledge of the Section so that they can assume a SEER leadership role in the future.

    About the Program

    Applications for the 2023-2024 program are no longer being accepted. Check back in June 2024 for details on how to apply for the 2024-2025 program. Please note that applicants must be members of both the ABA and SEER.

    Waiver of registration fee for all Section conferences, including the annual Spring and Fall Conferences.

    Reimbursement

    For LDP members who meet one of the following criteria: government employee, academic, public interest lawyer, young lawyer, solo/small firm practitioner, or unemployed, a travel/lodging reimbursement of certain expenses is available to attend the SEER Fall Conference.

    Apply

    Submit an application for the program (available at the top of this page).
    Attend

    Attend the SEER Fall Conference. The 2023-24 LDP group will be expected to attend the Fall Conference from October 11-14, 2023 in Washington, DC.
    Collaborate

    Participate in a class project which will require working with other LDP members and making a presentation to Section leadership.
    Provide Updates

    Submit updates on personal progress and LDP experiences to the program chair as requested.
    Participate

    Participate in monthly LDP Zoom meetings, which feature speakers who discuss leadership, career, and personal development topics.

    Availability for Section leadership at the end of the LDP term.

    2021-2022 LDP

    The 2021-2022 LDP group focused on environmental justice for their project and developed a PowerPoint that explores ways in which the legal community can embrace environmental justice.

    This resource from Fall 2020 includes a written lesson plan and video designed to assist teachers, attorneys, and others wishing to educate and inspire students on the history of environmental protection in the U.S.

    A collection of changes made under the Biden Administration between February and July 2021 that relate to environmental, energy, and resources law.

    Podcast Series: 50 Years of EPA

    In 2020, the LDP group recorded a series of podcasts with past EPA staff members, reflecting on the history of EPA.
