Aidan Freeman is an attorney at Marten Law in Portland, Oregon, where he helps public and private clients navigate a wide range of environmental and natural resources concerns in project permitting, brownfields transactions, regulatory compliance, and litigation. His practice focuses on clean air and clean water issues.
During law school at Lewis & Clark, Aidan was an Associate Editor of Environmental Law and a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, and the California Coastkeeper Alliance.
Aidan joined the ABA and SEER in 2022 as a second-year law student to take advantage of the bounty of opportunities for learning the ABA has to offer—in particular environmental-focused webinars, ethics resources, and the NR&E magazine. In 2023 he participated as a contributor to the SEER Air Committee's Year in Review chapter. In 2024, he joined the Public Land and Resources Committee as a membership and inclusion vice chair, a role he continues in today. Conducting membership outreach and helping to plan programs through the Public Land and Resources Committee has provided numerous ways for him to expand his network beyond the Northwest and meet a range of environmental law professionals who have provided him with valuable insights at the early phases of his legal career.
Prior to law school, Aidan worked as a local government journalist at a daily newspaper in California. Before that, he was a woodworker. Outside of work, Aidan enjoys reading poetry and dragging his two year-old along for trail runs and bike rides around the city.
