Katina Miner graduated with a BS in public policy studies, with honors from the University of Chicago in 2003 and received her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law in 2006. Her work with the justice system began in undergrad with a domestic violence shelter and in law school she worked with two different civil legal aid agencies, primarily with recipients of public benefits. She began her legal career at a private, global law firm in San Francisco where she focused on employment defense litigation but dedicated substantial time to pro bono practice: including work on gender-based asylum claims and parole for survivors of intimate partner violence. When she moved to Kentucky, she returned to her background in working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence at Kentucky Legal Aid. For approximately three years she served family law clients in primarily rural areas. She is currently the Director of Advocacy for Kentucky Legal Aid, a former ABA Section of Family Law Fellow, the co-chair of the ABA Family Law Section Domestic Violence Committee, and the co-chair of Kentucky’s Statewide Legal Aid Domestic Violence Task Force.
