Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence

Emily Dillon

Liaison from the ABA Law Student Division

Emily Dillan is a third-year JD candidate at the University of Massachusetts.  She came to law school knowing that her calling was to advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and, in her 1L year, worked with the MA Women’s Bar Association to introduce a bill expanding anti-discrimination employment protections to victims of abusive behavior.  She also spent her 1L summer as a Rappaport Fellow with MA State Representative Natalie Higgins, where she focused exclusively on policy initiatives relating to domestic and sexual violence.

In her second year, Emily designed a workshop dedicated to trauma-informed client interviewing techniques and was the recipient of a research grant offered by Boston College School of Law’s Rappaport Center for Law and Public Policy.  She also successfully represented her first survivors in Probate and Family Court and spent her 2L summer as a Summer Law Fellow with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

Emily is excited to return to her role in the Commission for a second year and for being of service to both the Commission and the Law Student Division in any way she can.
