Advanced Trial Skills Institute

August 12-15, 2025 (1:00 - 5:00 p.m. ET | 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. PT) via Live Zoom Sessions | Draft Agenda

The Advanced Trial Skills Institute teaches and enhances the litigation skills of attorneys who represent survivors of domestic violence in contested child custody hearings and trials. Working from a hypothetical fact pattern, participants perform direct and cross examinations of expert witnesses, lay evidentiary foundations for electronic evidence, complete impeachment exercises, and deliver closing arguments, while receiving immediate feedback and constructive critique from expert faculty. As a result of participating in the Advanced Trial Skills Institute, attorneys will gain confidence and improve their abilities to think quickly on their feet and effectively represent their clients in contested custody cases.

  • The Advanced Trial Skills Institute is open to attorneys only.  Priority will be given to attorneys with 3+ years of litigation experience.
  • Please note that this training is highly interactive and involves substantial preparation on your own time. We ask that you please plan to attend the entire program.
  • There is no cost to attend this training.
  • Priority will be given to OVW grantees.
  • No CLE credits will be provided.
  • Registration will remain open until July 29, 2025, or until the training has reached capacity.
