What work do you do with the Commission?
I have worked with the Commission to provide testimony to the White House on recommendations they could support in the legal system to improve responses for immigrant survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking as well as provided input on various resolutions supported by the Commission from lens of someone who's worked on those policies at local level.
What inspires you, professionally and personally?
Right now, I am inspired by young people who are so much more aware and thoughtful on issue of race, gender, and the planet.
Share one thing you have learned, big or small, doing your work over the past year?
The unique needs of Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian survivors in various "helping" systems and how unresponsive they are.
What is your favorite comfort food?
Potstickers, buko pie, Taiwanese zongzhi, Spanish tapas, tamales, mole negro.
Who inspires you?
My dad, who worked hard to make sure his family had as many opportunities to thrive as possible. My former clients, who have lived through horrible abuse, or genocide, and are still able to move through the world.
