Overview of the Commission Listservs

The ABA Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence hosts 6 listservs.

American Bar Association membership is not a prerequisite for membership in any listserv, nor does membership on its own qualify one for admission to a listserv.

For more information, please read the descriptions below.

The Commission reserves the right to grant or deny access to a listserv to anyone at any time.

Manage-DSV Listserv

The Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence hosts this monitored, listserv to provide a forum for the managers and supervisors of victims’ attorneys to discuss issues that arise in discuss issues that arise in the process of supervision, and to provide peer-to-peer assistance and mentorship.

As representation of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking extends far beyond family law cases, managers from all practice settings are encouraged to apply so long as the list criteria are met.

• The Manage-DSV listserv is open only to those who manage attorneys who maintain a substantial and active practice of cases on behalf of individual victims. The practice must include substantial in-court representation.
• Membership is open to managers of victims' lawyers only. The listserv is not open to those who represent perpetrators of abuse or who are otherwise involved in litigation on behalf of abusers.

The list is ‘quietly moderated’ by the Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence, which means that messages are screened for relevance and appropriateness, but not edited.

Litigate-DSV Listserv

The Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence hosts this monitored, litigators-only listserv to provide a forum for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and/or Transgender, and/or Queer (LGBTQ) victims’ attorneys to discuss issues that arise in the process of litigation, and to provide peer-to-peer assistance and mentorship.

As representation of LGBTQ victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking extends far beyond family law cases, litigators from all practice settings are encouraged to apply so long as the list criteria are met.

The Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence hosts this policy discussion listserv, aimed at identifying and advocating for federal domestic violence and sexual assault-related legislative priorities, from the perspective of legal services providers.

• Membership in Legislate-DSV is open to anyone supporting federal assistance to expand and improve the provision of legal services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
• The list is ‘quietly moderated’ by the Commission on Domestic & Sexual Violence, which means that messages are screened for relevance and appropriateness, but not edited.
• The views expressed in the list discussion are not approved by the House of Delegates or the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association and accordingly should not be construed as representing the policy of the ABA. Any lobbying pursued by staff will be done only in accordance with standard policies and procedures.
