In Memoriam

The legal profession has lost two female trailblazing jurists. The Honorable Judith S. Kaye, former chief judge, Court of Appeals of the State of New York, died on January 7, 2016. She became the first woman to occupy the top judicial office of New York State when Governor Mario M. Cuomo appointed her associate judge of the court of appeals in 1983. The Honorable Marie L. Garibaldi, the first woman to serve on the New Jersey Supreme Court, died on January 15, 2016. She made history when appointed to the court in 1982 by Governor Thomas H. Kean.
