Minority General Counsel News: Women Increase, but African Americans Decline

The annual survey of Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 women and minority general counsel released by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association on November 23, 2015, showed 120 women served as Fortune 500 general counsel in 2015, seven more than the previous year, and 15 more than two years ago. However, that good news was countered by the finding that one in four African Americans serving as chief legal officers for Fortune 500 companies has left those positions, reflecting a net drop—from 54 to 51—of minority general counsel among those companies.
