Growing up in Chicago, I did not know a single lawyer. The only lawyers I knew were on TV. In fact, neither of my parents attended college. My mom had three brothers, all of whom went to college. When I finally asked my mother why she never enrolled in college, she simply replied, “It just wasn’t discussed.”
