Guided Conversations: Highlighting Experiences of Intersectionality
March 20, 2024, at 3 p.m. ET | 1.5 CLE*

The Guided Conversations Project, supported by the “This Talk Isn’t Cheap” report and toolkit, aims to illuminate the intersectional experiences of women of color and promote allyship in the legal profession. In honor of this vision and Women’s History Month, the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession (CWP) is hosting a panel of highly accomplished women who represent a diversity of identities and legal specialties. Moderated by former CWP Chair Michele Coleman Mayes (Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, New York Public Library), the panelists will share their experiences and engage in a thought-provoking dialogue around race, gender, and ethnicity in the legal profession. This virtual program will include a 60-minute moderated conversation followed by a 30-minute Q&A portion.

  • Michele Coleman Mayes, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for the New York Public Library

  • Kimberly Chainey, Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Secretary at Aptar
  • Yvette Ostolaza, Management Committee Chair, Sidley Austin LLP
  • Heather Russell, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at TransUnion

*The ABA will seek 1.5 hours of CLE credit, including 1.5 hours of Elimination of Bias/Diversity and Inclusion credit, in 60-minute states, and 1.9 hours of CLE credit, including 1.9 hours of Elimination of Bias/Diversity and Inclusion credit, for this program in 50-minute states. Credit hours are estimated and are subject to each state’s approval and credit rounding rules. Visit for general information on CLE at the ABA.
