Marvin Dang was elected in 2023 to a 3-year term as Secretary of the American Bar Association. He's the first Asian American lawyer to be an ABA officer. An attorney since 1978, Marvin Dang is the Managing Member of the Law Offices of Marvin S. C. Dang, LLLC. Started by Marvin in 1981, the law firm is now Hawaii’s largest creditors’ rights firm with 5 attorneys and nearly 30 support staff. Besides creditors’ rights law, Marvin’s practice areas include lobbying, legislation, government relations, and real property law. His clients are major national and local financial institutions and lenders. Marvin was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of an FDIC-insured Hawaii financial institution for 11 years. In the 1990s, he was a hearings officer (per diem) with the Hawaii State Judiciary. During the 1980s, he served as a State Representative in the Hawaii State House of Representatives and was an Assistant Minority Floor Leader.
