Asian American and Pacific Islander Legal Trailblazers

The month of May is a time to celebrate Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States, their culture, and to learn more about their history. In 1992, Congress passed Public Law 102-450 , which annually designated the entirety of May as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. The month of May was chosen in commemoration of the first Japanese immigrant arriving to the United States in May 7, 1843, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869, which was mostly laid down by Chinese immigrants.
